Friday December 8, 2023. Around 11 PM firefighters were alerted for a house on fire in the 900 block of Spring City Road. Firefighters had just finished up a late evening getting Donuts made for Santa Run on Saturday.
The homeowner had been smoking on back porch and accidentally light a plastic shelving rack next to outdoor furniture that contained various types of combustibles on and around the shelving unit. He reported hearing a noise of something falling, which he believed it was in the basement and went to check finding the back porch on fire. There was minimal damage to the house due to the quick action of his Neighbor (a retired firefighter) who extinguished the fire.
The Homeowner and neighbors heard an explosion type sound as aerosol containers exploded in the fire. Fire was investigated and ruled accidental. There were no injuries, and the fire dept. was on the scene for about 45 minutes. The County Fire Marshall was notified.
